how it all began...... The start of a beautiful allotment!

Yes, believe it or not, this was what our allotment once looked like in 2017 - before we started to fill it with beautiful vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers.

We took on this piece of land to turn it into an allotment to share with the children. It took a lot of work to get ready, as you can see, but we had great plans for it. After all the back breaking work digging over the rough ground, clearing all the stones and dumped rubbish, we had a workable allotment. After the success of our small allotment, the following year, we took the opportunity to increase the space we had and take on the next door plot as well. We now have a double sized plot. It needed lots of work to clear it and dig it over, but we have more space now for the children to play in.

We hope to continue to grow lots of plants, particularly vegetables. We aim to get the children involved all the way through from planting the seeds, watering the plants, harvesting the produce and eating the tasty fruit and vegetables.

We think they're going to enjoy coming here and seeing first hand how our food is grown. Along the way, we'll be measuring the beans growing, counting up the onions, looking at the colours of the flowers, smelling the herbs, digging up the potatoes, tasting the freshly picked strawberries and trying the vegetables we grow.
