About us
Muddy Toes Green Fingers was set up by three childminders.

We are united in our passion for developing young minds and healthy bodies.
We love to eat and cook healthy, nutritious food, particularly fruit and vegetables.

And we love to grow them.
A good diet affects the wellbeing of us all but it plays an especially important part in the physical and mental development of young children. Children, like young plants, need the right nutrients to grow strong and stay healthy. When our bodies are fed with a good, balanced diet, our minds are able to concentration and we optimise our ability to learn.
Establishing good eating habits from a young age helps a child to develop. We feed all the children in our care lots of fruit and vegetables. Our aim is that the allotment will not only supply us with a good range of seasonal produce but will also allow the children to become familiar with how vegetables grow and encourage them to try new things.

We hope that the children will learn where the food they eat really comes from and not just a supermarket shelf! We think they will be as excited as we are to watch our vegetables grow, harvest the crops and eat the produce.

It’s also a good reason to get out into the fresh air and get active digging and planting! We aim to include lots of information and work on skills, such as counting, measuring, recognising colours and shapes and talking about the seasons, all in a fun environment.
